Local Group galaxies version: 3 Mar 2003, Walker preprint http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/astro-ph/0303011 Working definition is that Local Group members must lie within about 1.2 Mpc radius of the barycenter of the group, which represents the zero- velocity surface of the Hubble expansion. Basic list comes from van den Bergh's article appearing in the May 2000 issue of PASP (2000PASP..112..529V). Positions are mostly from NED, although in a few cases have been adjusted for low surface brightness objects when the NED position is clearly in error. V magnitudes and dimensions (mag. 25 isophote) are likewise from NED, although highly uncertain in several cases for the nearby dwarf ellipticals. With a few exceptions, the sizes are rounded to two significant figures, they being no more accurate than +/-10 percent even in the best cases. Types are a mix from NED and myself. Distances are adopted from Walker's 2003 conference paper, given to 5 kpc precision when < 100 kpc, and 10 kpc when greater than this. True uncertainties are still 10-20 percent, though for the LMC it is probably only 5 percent. Still to be done: ---calculate mean surface brightness from "best" available total magnitudes and dimensions; ---inspect faint galaxies on PMM sky survey images to improve coords.
