Subject: Results and report for a Messier Marathon conducted on 12th March 2024. Date: Tue, Mar 19, 2024 at 7:57 AM From: Ranjit Neelakandan Dear Hartmut, My name is Ranjit Neelakandan and a member of the Bangalore Astronomical Society in India. My friend Ganesh Raja and I did a Messier Marathon on the 12th of March 2024 from Southern India using a 10" inch Skywatcher Dobsonian with GOTO. and a 25 mm Plossl eyepiece. Despite the initial hiccups, managed to get 97 out of the 110 objects. Missing 13 Messier objects were M52,M31,M32,M110,M74,M77,M33,M76 which were lost due to some GOTO alignment issues in the evening.M101 was genuinely faint to be observed for us. Morning objects M72,M2,M73,M30 were either too close to the horizon and lost in the morning twilight or obstructed by trees at the viewing site. It was a great learning and fun experience, and we hope to do more in the coming years. Please consider our results for the SEDS Messier marathon for 2024. Also attached is the list of Messier objects, time and a brief comment on the objects. Please do reach out for any further clarifications. Best regards, Ranjit
