Date: Wed, Apr 6, 2011 at 12:49 PM From: Jiri Polak Subject: 2011 Messier Marathon Results Messier Marathon of West Bohemia 2011 ------------------------------------- On the first weekend in April was once again held in Rokycany observatory Messier marathon competition. For the night time met already supporters of this extra astronomical "sport" discipline since the year 2003. The very first night (March 1/2, 2011) of the interval intended for private marathon, Jirka Kubánek located 100 objects from Messier catalog by 93 mm refractor. At night March 5/6, 2011 saw Michal Bareš 101 objects by his 150 mm Newtonem. The next two nights later (March 7/8, 2011) Michal Rottenborn found out 101 objects by Somet Monar 25x100 too. Official marathon started by Iridium flash of -7 magnitude, April 2/3, 2011 in Rokycany observatory. During the night Jirka Polák (Somet-binar 25x100) and Michal Rottenborn (Somet-monar 25x100) found out identical amount 103 object and some of the others saw nearly 100 object too.
