Jacques Leibax Montaigne (1716 - 1785?)
From Limoges, France, amateur astronomer Jacques Leibax Montaigne discovered
three comets:
3D/1772 E1 Biela (1772 Montaigne, 1772),
C/1774 P1 Montaigne (1774 Montaigne, 1774), and
C/1780 U1 Montaigne-Olbers (1780 Montaigne-Olbers, 1780).
All these were also observed by Charles Messier
and other observers.
