Chandra X-ray Observatory images of Messier objects

The Chandra X-ray Observatory (CXO), formerly known as Advanced X-ray Astrophysics Facility (AXAF), is the third in a NASA series of four large orbiting observatories. While Chandra is observing in the X-ray part of the electromagnetic spectrum, the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory (CGRO) was observing in the Gamma ray light, the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) in visible light, and the newest, the Spitzer Space Telescope (SST) in the infrared light.

The following images were obtained by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory satellite. For more CXO images, see Nasa's Chandra site or Harvard University's Chandra homepage.
